Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) is a muscle-wasting condition that results in progressive weakness and wasting of the muscles of the face, shoulder blades, and upper arms. It is the most common form of muscular dystrophy in adults, affecting about 1 in 8,000 people.

There is no cure for FSHD, but there are treatments that can improve symptoms and quality of life. The first step is to see a GP or other health professional to get a diagnosis.

If you are diagnosed with FSHD, you may be eligible for support through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). The NDIS can help you access the services and supports you need to live your best life.
